MAINTENANCE OF YOUR LAQUERED STAIRS AS EASY AS THAT!

• protect your stairs from sand, stones and Water
• dirt pan suggested
• frequent polishing delays the natural abrasion of the sealing
• the sealing of the surface is stain resistant
• occasionally cleaning best done with a mop, a broom or a hoover
• adhesive dirt best to be removed with wet cleaning
• pay attention to a comforting indoor climate: 18-20°C ambient temperature – 50-60% humidity

Sealed stairs are natural, easy to clean and hygienic. In order to preserve the beautiful and classy appearance of the stairs the subsequent maintenance instructions are highly relevant.

INDOOR CLIMATE

As wood is an organic material it respires. If the air is very dry, it dehumidifies the wood. This process causes the wood to shrink, which may lead to gaps in different sizes.

If the air humidity is very high the wood may swell.

Basically this factor shouldn't be assessed negatively, but has to be seen as the natural property of wood.

The ideal indoor climate is achieved at a ambient temperature of 18-20°Celsius and a humidity of 50 - 60%.

Please pay special attention to the ideal indoor climate during the heating period.

In order to reach the recommended humidity an air humidifier can be used. Please note that you could also save valuable heat energy, because users also find lower temperatures with higher humidity comforting.

GENERAL ADVICE

The sealing protects the stairs with a closed layer of coating, therefore the wood can't absorb pollutants. This layer of coating is liable to abrasion in a certain amount of time, depending on usage. Sand and stones underneath shoes scratches the layer of coating. In order to slow this process down, frequent polishing is recommended.

The guarantee for the surface treatment and the stairs is only valid, when the maintenance system approved by the manufacturer, is used.

Never treat the stairs with steel shavings. Newly coated stairs are not to be used before the next day.

The closed layer of coating is a manual work. Due to this fact minor inconstancy in the surface treatment ( inclusion of sand and dust) has to be tolerated. This has no influence on the durability of the coating. The lifespan of the coating is preserved best when treated with care in the first few days.

Full stress should be put on the stairs earliest 14 days past installation. In the first few weeks the stairs should only be cleaned gentle and dry. Don't apply carpentry. Carpet underlay have to be approved for coated stairs.

Before heavy usage (commercial/industrial) maintenance should be undertaken. Cleaning and maintenance are done effortlessly and easily with environmentally friendly products.

MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS FOR VARNISHED STAIRS

1. Description: L 93 Everclear is a water based, slip resistant care product for sealed parquet floor as well as stairs. L 93 Everclear is especially slip resistant as per DIN 18032. L93 Everclear is self-glossy without needing to polish.

The prerequisite for the usage is that the sealant is totally closed. If the sealant is damaged, the wood is at risk that it turns grey through water ingress.

2. Special Advice: A sealed wood floor should normally only be treated with L 93 Everclean 8 to 10 days after installation. The more the sealed floor is preserved in the first few days, the longer is the life expectancy of the seal. At the latest maintenance of the floor should be done according to point 3a) before heavy use is to be expected.

Each seal depending on the wear and tear deteriorates.

Thus the regular maintenance is mandatory.

If the surface has been damaged through use, it must be completely sanded and newly sealed. The timely execution of such an action is part of the conservation of value of the floor/stairs. You should also take care to avoid ponding or leaving wet pads or rags/cloths on an area of the floor to reduce the potential of staining.

With an impregnated floor the danger exists that it turns grey due to water penetration. In this case please use our L92 fit polish. When changing the materials for cleaning a basic clean is necessary.

When using parquet floor and laminated floor it has to be checked case by case.

Please also observe the recommendations of the manufacturer.

3. Application: Shake well before use. L93 Everclear is used in two types of methods

a) First clean and full clean

L93 Everclear is applied undiluted, thin and regularly on the sealed parquet or wood flooring for the first time after sealing or after each basic clean.

The optimum quantity is approx. $30 - 40\mathrm{ml} / \mathrm{m}^2$. (undiluted) The care cleaner has to be rubbed in with a clean, soft non-fluffy rag or fleece and applied regularly over the surface. L93 shines without extra rubbing.

b) Maintenance clean

For continuous cleaning and care at the same time mix 0,2-0.3 l (approx. a coffee cup full) L93 Everclear with 8-10 l water. use a lightly wet rag.

Punctual soiling e.g. grease spots, abrasions or other adhesive dirt get cleaned specifically with L91 “Cleaner- Fußbodenreiniger” (“Cleaner- floor cleaner”) [solvent- based] or L94 “Cleaner- Wachsentferner” (“Cleaner- wax remover”) [water- based].

c) Basic cleaning L93 “Everclear” is slightly film- forming. Therefore, regarding the frequency and intensity of the maintenance process, a complete removal of the maintenance film (manually or mechanical) with L94 “Cleaner- Wachsentferner” (“ Cleaner- wax remover) is required. A basic cleaning is necessary when the floor shows signs of excessive, adhesive dirt or is not nice to look at.

Important: When doing Basic cleaning as well as maintenance cleaning, don't flood the floor with water to avoid damages of swelling wood.

4. Transport and Storage: Transport and storage have to be frost- proof, dry, and in a cool place. If kept in original packing best before 24 months.

FULL MAINTENANCE: Before first use and after Basic cleaning, the clean and cleansed stairs have to be rubbed down with undiluted care cleaner. The care cleaner has to be rubbed in with a clean, soft non-fluffy rag or fleece and applied regularly over the surface.

Important is the economical and regular application, so that there will not be any lacklustre areas. The frequency of the care maintenance is dependent on the usage.
